I regret buying Chinese stuff under nokia supervision,
even after four updates it is unstable freezez and boot freeze is common. No way to increase ram or internal memory phone, by updates. It is a mental satisfaction ploy, nothing else, it has to be hardware upgrade, Nokia using same processor for X6 X3 and mini. What a gimmick to sell old stock of processors in new bodies. Why cant consumer wait to get price and firmware stablize, thy cannot die without it. It is easier for Nokia to further save on R&D and let public be their free team.

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2009I hav just got my N97 and am not sure if i should remove the front plastic cover..If i dont w.. moreif you remove the protective film the screen wont get damaged in the sense of it being unusable but you might wanna keep it on to protect from scratches. you could also go out and get a better screen protector as the out of the box one isn't exactly of great quality. i've tried out a few and would recommend skinomi techskin it is more expensive than others but you get lifetime replacements and it covers your entire phone without the bulk of a case. you can find it on amazon if interested

mahesh, 19 Dec 2009why some phones have 'made by nokia' printed in the box? Are those phones bad?? Answer soon.T.. morefrom my knowledge of researching the phone before i bought it, the white version is manufactured by nokia themselves and the black is manufactured in china; most likely for the cheap assembly cost. Note that it doesn't mean the black version is a fake (clone)though you should still be wary when purchasing

Chris_Skylock, 19 Dec 2009calibrate the battery atleast 3 times. FULLY EMPTY the battery and charge it. do it 3 times an.. moreMy N97 is 2 months old, I must have fully emptied the battery more X6, since is always drained in my pocket, I only use some minutes internet, call and few text on it daily, however I have 3 push-email addresses set up in it, I guess these shouldn't have drained the battery like that. I used to slide locked the phone, I notice the pick up and drop call (green and red) lights always stay on for some time after locking the buttons.
I love the design of the phone, i hate its software and its battery life.

sliding? Is it true?
4. Is the sliding mechanism good or getting loosened
5. It is expensive. Is it worth buying?
6. Is it best suited for mail application.

Larry, 19 Dec 2009after you emptied the battery 3 times, how much longer did the battery last? did you do this w.. moreI did it on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic as it has the only battery. On the othr hand, I have 2 more batteries for my Nokia N97. I also did the calibration on the N97 but I didnt noticed any drawbacks when I first used it.
Have you download something to your N97? It seems we have similar problems - If I download something from the OVI services, my Nokia N97 will not boot up.
If you have the same problem as mine, back up your phone with all your apps intact and hard reset your phone.
I hard reset my Nokia N97 with all the apps I needed back-up'd and I got nothing to worry about emptying the battery.
3 calibration should be fine. If more than that, you will destroy the battery of your phone/device.
Today's battery are smart. They dont need to be fully emptied when they already reached the end of the cycle. If it's getting LOW, re-charge it. But you have to fully empty it on its first use.

Remi, 19 Dec 2009The N97 let me down, I rushed to buy the phone, to my surprise the battery wouldn't last more .. morein that 10 hours, are you using the phone practically the whole time? that seems like very poor battery life. apart from calibrating the battery as chris suggested, you could also change lower brightness of the screen and change your network mode to gsm.

My cousin and I have the same phone and we tried to use the Video Calling. That was sick. Then, we were emailing and texting each other with our GMAIL acct. and had no problems. We also took so many pictures and converted them to 8.1 megapixels using our digital photos software. The touch screen it's easy to use when texting. The QWERTY keyboard is also pretty cool because it has a backlight on it and it's good to send out emails and it's FAST. Then, we downloaded over 2,000 songs and 5 movies in it.This phone is very awesome.WE LIKE THIS PHONE VERY MUCH.

FM Transmitter is working if I lay the antenna of our component down to the tile floors and when I lay my N97 to the floor. It seems to be picky at certain locations.
It's atleast 1 meter or 1 foot

Always slide the lock whenever you're done using it. I mean, slide the lcok if you want to keep it in your pocket.
My Nokia N97 is fine and workin 100% but I cant download anymore due to the OVI service (possibly) killing my phone.
